This is a bad flu season. I wanted to give you some pointed information about this.
What are common flu symptoms:
Fever, Fatigue, Body aches, Runny Nose, Sore Throat, Cough, Headache, Chills, Diarrhea or Vomiting
Please contact your doctor immediately if you develop any of these symptoms. A simple nasal swab can diagnose flu in 10 minutes. You can have flu even if the test is negative. You can be started on antiviral medicine within 48 hours to limit illness. If you have been diagnosed with flu please stay indoor until you are fever free for 24 hours without taking fever reducing medicine. Immediate caregivers or contacts should take influenza prophylaxis. Influenza complications can be deadly such as pneumonia, heart attack, severe dehydration.
How to avoid flu?
Get a Flu Vaccine immediately if you haven’t done so yet. No one knows how effective is the flu vaccine this season. Do not believe in media report that says flu vaccine is not effective.
Avoid contact with infected person. Avoid crowded place. Wear mask if necessary.
Wash hand frequently using soap and water. I advise that you wash your hand with soap and water first thing after coming home, after you touch an outside object such as door handle, shopping cart etc . Clean and disinfect surfaces that may be contaminated.
